VicEmergency is an essential app developed by the Victorian Government to provide emergency warnings and information. By downloading and setting up a user profile, you can stay informed about incidents in areas of interest to you. The app offers several features to enhance your emergency preparedness.

One of the key features of VicEmergency is its live incident map, which displays current warnings, planned burns, and other incidents across Victoria. The map helps you visualize the situation and plan accordingly.*

Creating a user profile and using watch zones allows you to receive official warnings for your local area. Victoria's emergency services push out warnings and information directly to your phone, ensuring you stay updated.*

VicEmergency integrates GPS technology to determine your current location and display surrounding incidents. This functionality helps you understand the proximity and relevance of emergencies to your whereabouts.*

The app provides various types of emergency notifications, including Emergency Warnings, Warnings, Advice, and general information issued by Victoria's emergency services. By sharing incidents and warnings with friends and family, you can help spread awareness within your community.

Additionally, the app allows you to view forecast Fire Danger Ratings on the map, as well as check today's and tomorrow's Total Fire Ban status. These features help you stay informed about fire risks in your area.

It is important to note that an internet connection is required on your device to receive warnings and information from Victorian emergency services.* Your GPS must be enabled to view your current location.* The map symbols on VicEmergency represent the origin of the emergency rather than its current location or spread.

VicEmergency is an invaluable tool for accessing emergency warnings and information; however, it should not be the only source of information. Emergency services utilize various channels such as SKY TV, ABC local radio, designated community radio stations, the VicEmergency Hotline on 1800 226 226, the VicEmergency website (www.emergency.vic.gov.au), as well as their Twitter and Facebook accounts.

If you are prompted with a message asking for location access, it is crucial to allow "VicEmergency" to access your location. This step ensures that you receive incidents and warnings specific to your current location. The exact instructions for allowing access may vary based on your device and software version, but the general process involves navigating to your device settings, selecting applications or manage applications, and choosing VicEmergency from the list. Ensure that the "show notifications" box is checked at the top of the screen.
